It seems fitting that the debut exhibit happen this year, the 100-year anniversary of his birth. The six works on display at the Consumnes River College Art Gallery are depicted below. But to be truly appreciated, these large canvasses should be seen in person. Many in attendance at the reception remarked that while they'd seen the photographs, they weren't prepared for how vivid, vibrant and relevant these works are. All the more impressive considering they were painted close to sixty years ago and have never before been shown publicly.
Heartfelt thanks to curator Yoshio Taylor for a beautifully conceived and mounted exhibit, to Consumnes River College which had the vision to build a remarkable gallery, and to the many family and friends who attended on February 24 and will visit the gallery in the weeks to come.
